The entire WMA team has strived to create a dynamic and evolving platform upon which to endorse women in management, attract women to the MBA program and create tools that help women achieve their goals and dreams.

Anna has lived in three countries and speaks Russian and Spanish. She graduated from McMaster University with a Bachelor of Arts and Science and a Combined Honours in Environmental Science and is back as an MBA Candidate. Anna is passionate about peoples’ health and the health care system, holding coop roles with KPMG’s Health Care practice, community hospital Mackenzie Health and the Ottawa Rotary Home, a Not-For-Profit providing adult and child services in the developmental sector. At DeGroote, Anna loves working with teams at (and winning) case competitions, and connecting women in management over common issues and interests.
Guneet graduated from the University of Toronto in 2013 with a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting and Economics. Upon graduating from U of T, Guneet started her MBA at the DeGroote School of Business. She is currently pursuing a double specialization in Finance and Strategic Business Valuation and is working towards the CFA designation. Guneet completed her co-op placements at Xerox (Customer Experience Analyst) and Scotiabank (Corporate Banking Analyst and Business Deposits Portfolio Management Analyst). As VP Finance & Sponsorships of WMA, she hopes to motivate her peers to reach their ultimate goals.
Kirren was born and raised in Mississauga, Ontario where she trained in classical piano with the Royal Conservatory of Music for nine years. She completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Guelph and graduated in 2012 with a Bachelor of Science Honours degree. Kirren took a year off before starting her MBA at the DeGroote School of Business. Through her co-op roles at RBC she’s worked extensively in change management, communications, and transformation strategy. Kirren recently returned from a 5 month academic exchange in Paris, France and can’t wait for her next trip to Europe.
Kathleen completed her Bachelor of Science majoring in biology at the University of Western Ontario, graduating in 2012. Upon graduation she backpacked through Australia and South East Asia, visiting a total of 10 countries. Kathleen is currently enrolled at McMaster University, completing her Masters of Business Administration at the DeGroote School of Business. She hopes to inspire and empower women to excel in both their personal and professional careers, through the Women in Management Association role of VP consulting.
Linda was born in Nanjing, China, but moved to Canada at the age of four. Aside from a 1-year stay in Denver, Colorado, she has grown up in Toronto where she was formerly the president and founder of the Business Club at her high school. After completing a B.Sc. in Life Sciences at McMaster University, she worked within an IT company for two years prior to pursuing her MBA. During Linda’s time at DeGroote, she has completed work terms at PricewaterhouseCoopers (Technology Consulting Practice) and at Roynat Capital (Analyst). She is the recipient of the Women in Capital Markets Heather L. Main Memorial Scholarship and will be completing her final work term at CIBC World Markets. As a career changer, she hopes to inspire others to discover what excites them and to pursue what they are truly passionate about.
Upon graduating from the Honours Life Science Program at McMaster University in 2010, Priya took a year off and managed an HIV/AIDS project in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. She is currently pursuing a double specialization in Strategic Business Valuation and Finance at the DeGroote School of Business. She has successfully completed Level I of the CFA examination and intends to become a CFA charterholder. She has previously completed an internship at St. Michael’s Hospital (Project Coordinator) and Scotiabank (Corporate Banking Analyst). She is currently adding another dimension to her learning experience by participating in McMaster’s Exchange Program at the EDHEC Business School in Nice, France. Priya hopes to pursue a career in Capital Markets while continuing to give back to her community through the corporate social responsibility platform.
Laura was born and raised in Toronto, but has spent the past nine years living, and training for triathlons, in the Hamilton/Burlington community. She received her B.Sc. in Genetics and Molecular Biology (2008) and M.Sc. in Medical Sciences (2011) before turning her focus to the MBA in Health Services Management (expected completion, 2013). As a consultant with Deloitte’s National Health Services Team, Laura had the pleasure of working to transform the current Canadian healthcare landscape via applying her four years of work experience as an Associate of the Quality, Performance and Risk Department at the Credit Valley Hospital and as a Clinical Research Lead with St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton and the Juravinski Cancer Centre. While working towards the Health Services Management specialization and Certified Health Executive (CHE) designation with the Canadian College of Health Leaders, Laura is dreaming big to also co-chair the fifth annual DeGroote Inter-professional Health Leaders Conference (DIHLC) and medal in various triathlon races throughout 2013. On the way she hopes to encourage fellow female business professionals to defy limitations and chase their wildest goals.
Melanie was born and raised in Unionville, Ontario where she competed as a synchronized skater for four consecutive years. Upon completion of her undergraduate degree in Kinesiology at the University of Western Ontario, Melanie worked as a Kinesiologist in Markham for several months before realizing her dream to provide practical solutions for Canada’s growing healthcare concerns on a much larger scale. Her co-op experiences as an eHealth Marketing Specialist at McMaster University’s Department of Family Medicine, as a Marketing Associate for InterMune Canada, and as Director of Marketing and Communications at Focus Business Consulting have led Melanie down a path filled with inspiration and continuous learning. Specializing in Strategic Marketing while pursuing her MBA, Melanie plans to apply her marketing expertise to improve health behaviours in both the youth and pregnancy populations to reduce the stress on Canada’s healthcare system and to enhance the lives of Canadians.
Tanya identifies herself as a world citizen. She was born and raised in India. She moved to the Middle East at the age of 11 and to Canada at the age of 13. Having experienced multiple diverse cultures, she has developed a love for different cuisines and histories. Tanya received her B. Com from University of Toronto (2011) and is currently pursuing a co-op MBA at the DeGroote School of Business. Through co-op, she has had the pleasure to work in the Manufacturing sector (at General Motors) and the Consulting sector (at Mercer). She is excited for her third co-op term in a corporate environment (at CIBC). Tanya is working toward a general specialization and is taking courses from various fields.
Vasu was born in Punjab, India and studied at Sacred Heart Convent boarding School where she learned to make independent decisions early on in life. With her undergrad in Geography, French and Public Administration, she leveraged her public administration skills to start a school and founded an educational society at the age of 21. With her strong drive to achieve, she turned her not-for-profit business around and created a strong brand name for her school. Her adventurous side led her to do a number of motorcycle expeditions to some of the highest motorable roads in the Himalayas and in the world. Her past accomplishments in the business world and her hunger for learning more about business in the financial markets was what led her to pursue her MBA and CFA. With her focus on Finance she wants to make a mark in Canadian and International Capital Markets. She hopes that she is able to motivate other women in the industry by setting an example.
