Emily Johnstone

President

Emily is the President of the WMA and is committed to supporting the advancement of women. She is a collaborative leader who believes that diversity and inclusivity are keys to success in business and in life.

Emily completed her BA in Psychology at the University of Western Ontario. Her passion for building relationships and connecting people lead her to a career in recruitment and operations in the finance industry. With a desire to expand her leadership and strategic analysis skills, Emily began pursuing her Master of Business Administration at DeGroote. She has completed co-op terms in Strategy and Corporate Planning at St. Michael’s Hospital and in Clinical Project Management at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health. For her final co-op, she will be joining the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care as a Policy Analyst.

Emily’s interests include travelling, spending time with family at her cottage, playing sports, and learning to snowboard.

Ellen Brandt

VP Events & Operations

Ellen is the VP of Events and Operations for the Women in Management Association. She is committed to encouraging women to pursue their goals and overcome challenges they may face in the workforce.  Ellen plans on not only impacting fellow student at DeGroote, but women in her community as well. She is an active member in youth programs such as Big Brothers Big Sisters and is passionate about empowering and educating these girls and boys from a young age.

Ellen completed her BA at McGill University where she pursued her interests in psychology, behavioral science and marketing.  Upon graduation from her undergrad, Ellen worked as a Sales and Marketing Coordinator for a short time before deciding to challenge herself to complete her Masters of Business Administration at DeGroote. She plans on using her time at DeGroote to develop the skills and network she needs in order to make a difference and affect positive change on her community. In her free time she enjoys reading, playing sports, volunteering, and walking her dog.

Brittany Luongo

VP Marketing & Communications

Brittany is the VP of Marketing and Communications of the DeGroote Women in Management Executive Team. As a woman who has taken several leadership roles in the past, her new goal is to encourage other women within the WMA to take the same initiative and help give women the voice that they rightfully deserve in our society.

Brittany graduated from The University of Western Ontario with a Bachelor’s Degree of Science in Physiology and Psychology. Through her experience in a Business Communications class at Western and her work with PremierLife.ca, Brittany grew increasingly interested in the realm of business. She believed that the analytical skills that she gained throughout her science degree would lend themselves perfectly to a Master’s of Business.

In Brittany’s spare time, she enjoys taking her puppy for long hikes along Ontario’s Niagara Escarpment and sharing her favourite restaurant adventures with her followers on her Instagram blog: eat.it.toronto

Joyce Zhu

VP Student Engagement

Joyce is the VP of Students Engagement for the Women in Management Association at the DeGroote School of Business. As an international student, she is committed to motivating and encouraging MBA candidates to get involved in supporting the leadership potential of their female colleagues. Her goal is to enhance collaboration and partnership between the WMA and female as well as male students.

Joyce graduated from East China Normal University with a Bachelor Degree of Economics. After graduation, she worked in financial services. Through her academic and work experience, she has experienced firsthand the challenges that women face in business. Joyce is looks forward to bringing her event planning and relationship building experience to the WMA. Joyce is a food lover who enjoys photography and watching movies in spare time.
